Origin:

India, the Philippines, New Guinea, and Indonesia. They usually grow on trees in tropical regions. Species from the higher-altitude regions of India can also tolerate lower temperatures.

Location:

Place it in a bright spot on the windowsill in the living area or in the sunroom. Provide light shade if the sun is too strong. Give it as much light as possible in the winter. (If there isn’t enough light, it may not bloom.)

Temperature:

22–25 °C is ideal. In winter, 18–22 °C. Slightly cooler at night.

Giessen:

Spray the plants and aerial roots daily or every other day. Increase frequency in summer and on dry days. Every two days, submerge the plant up to the root collar for 20 minutes.

Fertilizing:

Fertilize once a week throughout the year, using 0.5 grams or 0.5 milliliters per liter of water. Reduce the amount slightly in winter.

Special features:

This genus can bloom several times a year in particularly vibrant colors. The plants have roots that require a lot of air, so they are grown without soil. It is therefore essential to mist the roots and leaves.
