Aerides
Aerides is an epiphytic orchid.
It originally comes from Southeast Asia with a focus on the Near and Far East. There are around 20 species in this genus. Aerides has a growth habit similar to that of Vanda / Ascocenda. Accordingly, their care is very similar. Aerides often has very beautiful fragrant racemose inflorescences.
Special orchid care tips for Aerides (fan-tailed orchid)
Aerides prefers a bright but not too sunny window. Temperatures up to a maximum of 30 °C and never below 15 °C are ideal. Aerides can be cultivated very well as a hanging plant or in a glass like Vanda / Ascocenda. However, it is also possible to acclimatise them to a very coarse, water-permeable and air-permeable orchid substrate. Waterlogging should always be avoided. The growth phase lasts from March to October. Light fertilisation is recommended during this period. Please use special fertiliser for this and fertilise with half the prescribed concentration.
