This genus (Phragmipedium), which originates from the American continent, is very similar in habit and care to the Asian Paphiopedilum.

One flower stalk can have up to 5 sometimes quite bizarre flowers grow on one flower stem. The individual flowers are not as long-lasting, but the whole flowering phase lasts up to 6-8 weeks.
