Special botanical characteristics and notes on Beallara orchids

The orchids of the genus Beallara are hybrids created by crossing different orchid genera. Beallara is probably one of the best-known multi-genus hybrids. Beallara is probably the most beautiful cultivar at present. Beallara combines the best characteristics of the following genera: Brassia x Cochlioda x Miltonia x Odontoglossum. The official abbreviation for this genus is Bllra. Probably the best known varieties are Bllra. Tahoma Glacier 'Green' (the multi-genus hybrids can hardly be more large-flowered), Bllra. Eurostar (vigorous and flowering like no other).

This genus is particularly remarkable for several reasons:
1. hybrid diversity: Beallara orchids are hybrids created by crossing Brassia, Cochlioda, Miltonia and Odontoglossum. These crosses result in a wide variety of colours, shapes and patterns in the flowers, which makes them particularly attractive to orchid lovers.
2nd flower splendour: The flowers of Beallara orchids are often large and showy. They come in a variety of colours, including purple, pink, white, yellow and red, often with interesting patterns and spots. These eye-catching flowers make them a highlight in any orchid collection.
3rd flowering frequency: Beallara orchids have the ability to flower several times a year, which makes them particularly attractive to growers and enthusiasts. In addition, their flowers often last for several weeks, giving pleasure for a long time.
4th fragrance: Some Beallara orchids give off a pleasant fragrance, which can vary depending on the variety. This contributes to the attractiveness of these orchids and also makes them popular as houseplants.
5. ease of care: Beallara orchids are relatively easy to care for compared to some other orchid genera. They require less specialised conditions and can thrive indoors under the right circumstances.

Special care instructions for Beallara orchids:

Varieties of the Beallara genus prefer a temperate and light to partially shaded location. They need to be watered regularly but never get their feet wet. Temperatures between 16 and 18 °C are ideal. Only liquid orchid fertiliser in diluted form should be used. Tip: Always use half the concentration indicated on the packaging. Although most multihybrids usually flower in the short seasonHowever, plant shoot growth is important. The more shoots the plant produces, the more flower stems it can produce.
1st light: Beallara orchids prefer bright, indirect light. A location near an east or west-facing window is ideal. Direct midday sun should be avoided as it can burn the leaves.
2. temperature: These orchids thrive in moderate temperatures. During the day, temperatures should be between 18-24°C, while they may drop to 13-16°C at night.
3. watering: Beallara orchids should be kept evenly moist, but without the substrate becoming waterlogged. Water the plant when the substrate is slightly dry and ensure good drainage.
4 Humidity: A high humidity of 50-70% is ideal. In drier environments, a humidifier or regular spraying of the plant can be helpful.
5. fertilisation: Fertilise the orchid every fortnight during the growing season with a balanced orchid fertiliser. During the dormant period in autumn and winter, fertilisation can be reduced to once a month.
6 Substrate: Use a well-drained orchid substrate, which can consist of coarse bark, perlite and some sphagnum moss. This substrate should allow good air circulation around the roots.
7. repotting: Beallara orchids should be repotted every two to three years, or when the substrate begins to decompose. The best time to repot is in spring.

By following these care tips and knowing the special characteristics of Beallara orchids, you can optimally care for and enjoy these fascinating plants.
