Special features and tips for Colmanara orchids
Colmanara is characterised by its vigorous shoot growth. Colmanara usually have thick plant shoots and lush green, strong foliage. This multispecies hybrid likes to produce longer stems with many smaller flowers. The panicles of most Colmanara like to branch out. The orchids of the genus Colmanara are the result of crosses between the genera Odontoglossum, Miltonia and Oncidium were created. The official abbreviation for this genus is Colm. The best-known varieties are Colm. Tropic Jungle (vigorous, branching multihybrid) and Colm. Massai (quite compact growth for a multispecies hybrid in a dark red colour, partly with markings in the lip).

Special care instructions for Colmanara orchids
Varieties of the Colmanara genus prefer a a temperate and semi-shady location. They need to be watered regularly but never get their feet wet. Temperatures between 16 and 18 °C are ideal. Only liquid orchid fertiliser in diluted form should be used. Tip: Always use half the concentration stated on the packaging. Although most multihybrids usually flower in the short season, plant shoot growth is important. The more shoots the plant produces, the more flower stems it can produce.
1st light: Colmanara orchids prefer bright, indirect light. A location near an east or west-facing window is ideal. Direct midday sun should be avoided as it can burn the leaves.
2. temperature: These orchids thrive in moderate temperatures. Temperatures should be between 18-24°C during the day and 13-16°C at night. They can also tolerate short-term temperature fluctuations well.
3. watering: Colmanara orchids like to be kept evenly moist without the substrate becoming waterlogged. Water the plant when the substrate is slightly dry and ensure that excess water can drain away easily.
4 Humidity: A high humidity of 50-70% is ideal for Colmanara orchids. In drier environments, a humidifier or regular spraying of the plant can be helpful.

6. substrate: Colmanara orchids require a well-drained orchid substrate, which can consist of coarse bark, perlite and some sphagnum moss. This substrate should allow good air circulation around the roots.
7 Repotting: You should repot Colmanara orchids every two to three years or when the substrate starts to decompose. The best time to repot is in spring, before active growth begins.
