Maxillaria is a fascinating species of orchids as it has a lot to offer in color, scent and form and is ideal for the hobby culture.

It has its origion in subtropical and tropical regions. Most of its genus are sessile growing species that need moderate water. There are species that smell wonderfully on the most different flavors. Vanilla, citrus, coconut and baby porridge - there is something for everyone. Maxillaria usually bloom individually on the trunk. One of the first lovers of orchids was the Maxillaria picta, especially because of its uncomplicated care.

Special orchid care instructions for Maxillaria (Max)

Maxillaria may be cultivated very brightly and may be taken in the shade if burning over the too high leaf temperature impends. Temperatures up to 35 °C are not a problem. Night temperatures should not fall below 15 °C. It should be poured moderately. A slight drying out of the substrate is occasionally positive. In the growth phase from March to October, it may be fertilized every 14 days with half of the specified concentration.
