Masdevallia
The Masdevalia has two different groups. These are the cool-growing species and the temperate-growing species
Masdevallia is with 300 species an average large genus. It is divided into cool and temperate growing species, all from Mexico, Peru and Venezuela. Masdevallia grow in nature on trees and rocks, but some species also inhabit the soil and want it evenly moist. There are no limits to the variety of colors and shapes. There are small miniature species, but also really large-leaved with lush blooms in bright colors. Over the years, the orchid grower has produced heat-tolerant varieties that are very well suited to the windowsill.
Special orchid care intructions Masdevallia (Masd )
You should always choose a light location which is protected from draft. Throughout the summer Masdevallia are allowed to stand in the slightly shaded outdoor area. In summer, 18 °C would be ideal with a night setback to 10 °C. In winter, even 12 °C are sufficient. The substrate, which may be fine should never dry out, but in winter it should be poured a little more sparingly. Above all, the spraying of the leaves should then be omitted. Please always fertilize only weakly.
