Paphiopedilum

Paphiopedilum is probably the perfect room orchid for the warm area. Over the years it has retained the elegance and exclusive charm.

Among the women's shoes, there are pure green-leaved and colorful-leaved species. The colorful-leaved always like it a bit warmer. They are absolutely terrestrial orchids with a huge range of colors and shapes. Paphiopedilum is the longest-known orchid cultivar in Europe. Since the middle of the 18th century, they are known at the European noble houses and soon first crossings appeared. One of the oldest varieties in the Wichmann plant is Paphiopedilum Maudiae from 1900.

Special orchid care instructions for Paphiopedilum ("Slipper Orchid", "Venus slipper")

Paphiopedilum needs a partially shaded and temperate to warm location. Together with all bulbous orchids, the Lady Sipper is allowed to go outdoors for a short period in summer. Rain does not bother it. Temperatures below 15 °C should be avoided. Paphiopedilum must always be kept evenly moist. Then the roots remain active and the plant can develop optimally. Fertilization is allowed from spring to autumn. Always use orchid fertilizer in half of the specified concentration.
