Phragmipedium
The native of the this American genus (Phragmipedium) is very similar to Habius and care of the Asian Paphiopedilum.
On a pedicel the plant can grow up to 5 sometimes quite bizarre flowers. The single flower is not so durable, but as a whole it can last in the flowering phase up to 6-8 weeks. A tip: Always put a shallow bowl of water under the pot with water. The Phragmipedium loves wet feet.
Special orchid care instructions for Phragmipedium
Phragmipedium prefers a shady and moist location. However, in winter in our latitudes the plant can stand as much light as possible. A cool to tempered area is best for the development. Temperatures warmer than 20-22 °C should be avoided if possible. Please water very evenly. Fertilize every 14 days during the growth phase. Please do not fertilize in winter.
